Color palettes for foreground, middle ground, and background established strong brand recognition across the series.
Established palette was remixed into variant covers as well.
Interior art made use of the contrast of a cool color range for environments and warm colors reserved for figures to produce quickly readable silhouettes and add energy to sudden moments of action or heightened emotions.
Another important aspect of the interior art direction was the use of natural textures add subtle color variation in forms and emphasize the historical setting. It also played an important role in story telling such as in flashbacks and dream sequences mimicking tintype photography of the time.
Finally, the use of vibrant off palette colors such as greens, purples, pinks, and yellows were used to emphasize the otherworldly seeping into the otherwise naturalistic world that had been created.
